Erica Spiegelberg, 19 of New Berlin, reigned as
Waukesha County Fair's 2011 Fairest of the Fair.
She was crowned during the 45th annual ceremony
held at the Leinie Lodge on opening day of the Fair.
Spiegelberg's responsibilities at the Fair included
welcoming the public, interviews with the media,
announcing special events, introducing live bands
and awarding ribbons. Additional Fairest of the Fair
awards were presented to 1st and 2nd Place
Runners- up Sarah Hovey of New Berlin and Ella
Hopkins of Oconomowoc, respectively. Samantha
Scharles of Mukwonago received the award of
Miss Congeniality.
This was Spiegelberg's 10th year participating
in the Fair and entering 4-H projects. She has
volunteered in the 4-H Kitchen and Dairy Bar. She
also enjoys every aspect of the Fair, from the rides,
games, and bands to the pancake breakfast, eating
contests and the Fairest program. Outside of the
Fair Spiegelberg, has served as a Sunday school
teacher and volunteers with the Student Athlete
Committee at UW-Madison. Spiegelberg says,
"Being crowned as Fairest is a high honor and I
hope to represent the Fair in such a way that
others can become as excited about the Fair
as I am." Spiegelberg's older sister, Diana, was
the 2008 Waukesha County Fair Fairest of
the Fair.
The Fairest of the Fair is chosen based on these
qualities: personality, poise, appearance,
community involvement, communitcation skills,
and knowledge of the Waukesha County Fair.
Contestants must also reside in Waukesha
County or participate in a Waukesha County 4-H

Fairest of the Fair participates in parades,
attends county functions and speaks at

In addition, she represents Waukesha County
at Wisconsin's Fairest of the Fair competition
in January, 2012. A scholarship will be
awarded to Spiegelberg at the end of her reign.
